The park of nature Telascica whose surface is 65 km2, is 8km long and 150m wide at its narrowest part and 2 km wide at its widest part. The cove is well protected from all sides, and has always been a safe harbor for boats. There is a lake of Mir in the park, between the cove and the open sea. The lake is 650 m long and 340m wide, and deep from 6-10 m. The lake has salty water around 6°C warmer than the sea.
Beautifully cultivated meadows and hillsides are rich with Mediterranean
vegetation with more than 300 species of flora and equally rich
fauna. The undersea world has more than 250 plant and 300 animal
species. The island of Katina must be mentioned as one of the
most picturesque islands in the Adriatic , but the most unusual
is certainly the island of Taljuric.
There are several catering establishments in the Nature Park
where one can enjoy in traditional fish and meat specialties.
The establishments are situated on the Katina island and in the
bays Mala Proversa, Mir and Magrovica. |
