The biggest town in the island with long
year tradition is placed between 9 villages in the north west part
of the island (Ceprljanda, Lucino selo, Batalaza, Susica, Gornje
Selo, Muline, Guduce, Fortostina, Varos) and many cute coves, with
the coves of Cinta, Mostir and Juznja luka in Muline as the most
beautiful.
The town and the port, 11 km in the north from Preko; 1070 inhabitants. The economy is based on agriculture, vineyards, olive and fruit plantations, fishery and tourism. It is placed by the regional road that goes through the island.
Many yachts can put to the shore on the inner part of the port, safe anchorage for larger ships is south east from the port.
Monuments from early antics, villa
Rustica, late antics mausoleum, remains of the late Christian
basilica and monumental oil plant from 1 ct in the cove
of Muline are testimonies of mankind presence in this area.
In the cape , that closes the port from the north, there is an ancient Franciscan
monastery from 1430 with simple gothic church from 1447. The cloister has interesting Romanic
columns. In the village there are many summer houses of the several aristocratic families from Zadar. The ruins of the roman villa are found in the cove of Batalaza. There are also prehistoric ruins in the hill of Kuran, south east from the village.
Who likes to swim will be amazed by the beautiful sand beaches, and the most beautiful are in the coves of Cinta, Mostir and Juznja luka in Muline. The are several restaurants in Ugljan that offer domestic cuisine.
