Preko is situated in the central
part of the island of Ugljan only half an hour by ferry from Zadar.
Preko is a gentle place with parts of tipical dalmatian
architecture with plenty of villas with preserved, untouched nature, beautiful
mediterranean landscapes, crystal-clear see and sandy or stony beaches.
The idyllic islet of Galevac (Skoljic) lies only 80 m away from Preko where is
a valuable Franciscan Third Order monastery from the 15th century. This is a
favorite place for bathing, just as the sandy cove of Jaz, located nearby.
Many natural coves offer ideal possibilities for
many sports like sailing, surfing, water-skiing and scuba diving. Tourism board
of Preko along with our villages by the sea (Preko, Sutomiscica, Lukoran, Poljana
i Ugljan), offer accommodation in private accommodation in pleasant appartments
and rooms in private villas, as well as a camp in Lukorane and Ugljan.
Among many recreational activities you can choose cycling or trekking roads, alpinistic roads, mountain-bike roads, which will be a pleasant surprise as well as a trip from Preko in a trekking road on Zeljina to the most beautiful belvedere in Adriatic, the Fort
of Saint Michael (265 m above the sea level) from which you can have a magnificent view to more than 200 islands of Zadar archipelago and Nationa Park of Kornati.
