A beautiful town on the bay close to Zadar,
surrounded by sea and Mediterranean vegetation.
Petrcane developed remarkably during the
past few decades thanks to tourism. It
offers impeccable services to visitors,
above all, by the friendliness and cordiality
of its inhabitants...
Petrcane is a settlement with a small harbour in a bay of the same name. The harbour is sheltered from the bora and southerly winds. There is a post office, an infirmary, stores, inns, private rooms and apartments. It has a beautiful 2-km-long sandy beach.
Various forms of accommodation, sports facilities and water sports opportunities, excellent restaurants and entertainment within the large tourist complex, as well as cultural and entertainment programs and sightseeing tours in the nearby Zadar make Petrcane a very attractive tourist destination.
Chief occupations are farming and fishing. Petrcane lies on the local road, branching off from the regional road Zadar - Nin. Southeast of the village, along the coast, is the preserved former church of St. Bartholomew (12th-13th c.) with a massive bell tower on the front, later converted into a residential building (Kulina). Remains of mural paintings are found on the walls.
